Adsquare is free to post and free to browse, so there's no pressure to rush a listing out or grab the first item you see. Take the time to compare a few similar listings before deciding - it's the easiest way to spot a fair price.

• Ask whether the item is still under manufacturer warranty and whether a receipt is available.
• Compare the asking price against similar listed items - prices far below the norm are usually a red flag.
• For bulky items, check access and delivery/collection arrangements before agreeing a price.
• Test any electrical or mechanical item thoroughly rather than taking the seller's word for its condition.
