Buying and selling For Sale in Ashton-in-Makerfield South, Wigan

Buying or selling for sale in Ashton-in-Makerfield South, Wigan? These few checks make for a smoother deal.

Most private sales go smoothly, but a little preparation protects both sides. As a seller, accurate photos and an honest description save everyone time and avoid disputes later. As a buyer, you're never obliged to buy on the spot - a genuine seller won't mind you taking a moment to check an item over properly first.

• Ask whether the item is still under manufacturer warranty and whether a receipt is available.
• Compare the asking price against similar listed items - prices far below the norm are usually a red flag.
• For bulky items, check access and delivery/collection arrangements before agreeing a price.
• Test any electrical or mechanical item thoroughly rather than taking the seller's word for its condition.
