Thinking about birds in Oxford? Here's what reputable sellers and rehomers expect you to ask.
A healthy animal from a responsible source is worth paying a fair price for - this isn't an area where the cheapest option is usually the best one. If a price seems unusually low for the breed or type, ask why before you ask anything else.
- Arrange a home visit where possible rather than meeting only in a car park or public place.
- Check the animal's microchip details can be transferred into your name after the sale.
- Always see puppies or kittens with their mother, in the home they were raised in, before agreeing anything.
- Ask for proof of vaccinations, microchipping and any relevant health checks or breed-specific screening.
