Whether you're renting, buying or letting holiday rentals in Bathwick, Bath, here's what to look out for.
If you're buying, a survey is worth the cost even on a property that looks move-in ready - problems that aren't visible on a casual viewing can be expensive to fix once you own the place. If you're renting, read the inventory carefully and photograph the property's condition on move-in day.
- For shared or swap arrangements, agree bills, notice periods and house rules in writing from day one.
- Never transfer a deposit or holding fee before you've viewed the property in person.
- Check the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating - it affects your running costs, not just the rent or price.
- For rentals, ask which deposit protection scheme will be used and get it in writing.
