Buying and selling Vans in Midlothian West, Edinburgh

Looking at vans in Midlothian West, Edinburgh? Here's what experienced buyers and sellers check before agreeing a deal.

The private market moves fast, but that's no reason to skip the basics. A genuine seller is usually happy to answer questions, provide extra photos, or let you bring someone along to view the vehicle. If a seller pressures you to decide quickly, won't allow a proper look over, or asks for payment before you've seen it in person, treat that as a reason to walk away rather than a reason to hurry.

• For private sales, remember there's no consumer protection in the way there is buying from a dealer - inspect thoroughly.
• Always view the vehicle in person and take it for a test drive before paying anything.
• Ask to see the V5C logbook and check the seller's name and address match it.
• Run an HPI or similar vehicle history check to rule out outstanding finance or write-offs.
