Buying and selling Vehicles in Fauldhouse and the Breich Valley, Edinburgh

Looking at vehicles in Fauldhouse and the Breich Valley, Edinburgh? Here's what experienced buyers and sellers check before agreeing a deal.

Most private vehicle sales go smoothly, and a few minutes of checking protects both sides. Sellers benefit just as much as buyers from being upfront about a vehicle's history and condition - it avoids disputes later and tends to close a sale faster, not slower.

• Meet in a well-lit, public place for cash exchanges, or use a bank transfer with the seller present.
• Get anything agreed verbally - price, included extras, condition - confirmed in writing before you pay.
• Be wary of prices well below market value - it's the most common sign of a stolen or cloned vehicle.
• For private sales, remember there's no consumer protection in the way there is buying from a dealer - inspect thoroughly.
